Insurance Pre-Licensing

Illinois applicants must complete 20 credit hours of approved pre-licensing training for each line of insurance authority, with 7.5 of those hours in a live classroom setting. The remaining hours are met by self-study. After a student completes a class, we report it directly to the Illinois Department of Insurance and it goes toward certification. Ongoing live classes are offered in the following areas:

• Life, Accident & Health (L&H) - An interesting class focusing on the principles of the Life, Accident and Health industry, its various contracts and Illinois insurance statutes and regulations
• Property and Casualty (P&C) - An informative class focusing on the major Property and Casualty contracts (Auto, Homeowners, Commercial Liability, Commercial Property), their applications and Illinois insurance statutes and regulations.

Securities Pre-Licensing

Prep also offers an informative and engaging Series 6 and Series 63 class for producers who plan to sell mutual funds and variable contracts.

• Series 6 - A 2-1/2 day course focusing on the basics of securities and markets, investment companies, variable contracts, retirement plans, investment recommendations and taxation, federal securities laws and FINRA regulations. This license is required in order to sell mutual funds and variable insurance products.
• Series 63 - A one half day course focusing on state-level securities law. Most insurance producers who hold a Series 6 license are also required to hold a Series 63 license.
